Everyone’s doing it!

… having a look back at the last twelve months. For me work, family and friends have kept me busy but there is always time for crafting.

The Attic 24 ripple blanket…
… finally was finished.

I moved onto more complicated quilted appliqué jackets for two of my granddaughters (the eldest is now of an age when she has more sophisticated tastes).

Both of which were finished in time for Christmas…just.

There were some good reads.

And now there are crafty things and reads to look forward to:

All best wishes for a happy and healthy 2023,

Moke x

I’d like to hear more about your favorite reads. What’s up for you in blogging for 2023?

    • Moke says:

While I loved blogging, crafting working, family and friends are meaning it has to take a backseat until Autumn. I love history (pre-Tudor mainly) and am reading a book by Francis Pryor ‘Home’ at the mo’. Great read about people in pre-historic Britain or the island we now call Britain. What are you enjoying reading at the mo’? Moke

I also love history and right now am reading about the American air invasion of Germany from the southeast coast of England at the end of WWII.

We can learn a lot from looking at our pasts. My father was a German prisoner of war at the end of WWII in Nebraska. It was an abiding memory and left him with a deep love of America – especially the size and variety of the landscapes- hence my name!

I would love to read more more about how your father being a prisoner of war influenced your life? Any books would you recommend on this topic?

    • Moke says:

Sorry for delay in reply. I have been scratching my head. There will be books out there I am sure but I haven’t read any. When I was researching my father’s early days in Cumbria. I turned to the local newspaper and interviewed other German pows helped by local Red Cross. My son is keen for me to write his Opi’s story so watch this space! We are hoping for a family trip to Germany in c4 years so aiming to finish it by then. Thinking about favourite authors Robert Graves definitely one of them. Who are your favourite authors? M

      • usfman says:

Favorite fiction writers- Anne Patchett, TC Boyle, Margaret Atwood – Non fiction – Maybe Doris Kearns Goodwin. That upcoming family trip sounds exciting.
